ND Symphony Orchestra

Shameless advertisement (hey, it's my blog):

The Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra is playing a concert Saturday, February 11 at 8pm in the Leighton Hall in DeBartelo. We're performing a Schumann piano concerto, a Beethoven violin concerto, and Brahms' Symphony No. 4. Tickets are $6 general admission, $3 students. It's a cheap date, guys.

Would I get to sit next to my date?

Becca said...

Only if you bring one.

I'll be sitting by Jason, my beautiful Conn 8D horn.

Sitting by?

Let's not get too technical...

Nothing like holding your date on your lap for the duration of the concert... and then there's the lip contact issue...

That's why I prefer attending concerts in the "on-stage" section.

I really miss that. Come to think of it, I miss Jorge (my Holton 281). I haven't seen him since... before Thanksgiving, I think. He's hiding in my closet.

hmm ... dates. Can I bring my gamecube?

Becca said...

You can... but they make an announcement before each concert asking the audience to turn off all cell phones, pagers, and gameboys. I don't know if one could extrapolate to game cubes, but I would be prepared for a tussle with an usher. Of course, if an OFF game cube is your idea of good company, by all means. Does she have a name?

Yes, I just like to carry it around "off." It makes me feel less alone. I hope they let me bring it in. Otherwise, will there be a CD?

Sounds like quite the concert! Any chance that you guys are also playing Brahms's "Academic Festival Overture" next weekend? I especially love how it incorporates themes from "Gaudeaums Igatur" into the latter part of the piece. As for the CSO recording, I can lend you a CD one of these days. Good luck! :)

I wish. I could play nothing but Brahms for a semester and be happy.

I might have to take you up on the CD offer. Careful, though--I might "forget" I have it! Maybe I should just buy my own...
